I love the concept of a digital garden for knowledge work:

• a place to sow thought seeds
• watching them sprout into idea seedlings
• transplant them to a dedicated page pot, and
• nurture them to full-grown project plants, or
• have them languish in the weeds

My digital garden subsumes my blogger, wikidot, Linkedin Blog, Google site, and WordPress server.

I write to impart structure and clarity to me thoughts, and
I’m an advocate for active reading – take notes, make highlights, reflect, write down thoughts and reactions while reading.
The review, reflect, write a summary, and act loop cements learning, and
taking steps to implement ideas picked up is a key part of learning.

• my first smartphone – the HTC Touch powered by Windows Mobile 6 (a ‘Pocket PC’) – was among my favorites. Its USP – a stylus with handwriting recognition – great for writing blogs on the go. Sat up till 3 am one March morning in 2008 configuring my home WiFi, and used the Pocket PC to get mail from the corporate MS Exchange server, and a test Skype Phone call. Even set up VPN and ran an RDP connection to the office PC – felt pretty cool to do that off the phone :)
