une lettre à mon fils
You can have big dreams, even if you are an ordinary person.
You can live a life filled with rich learning, even while you lead a simple, modest life.
You can be a happy individual, through all of life’s trials and tribulations.
You can challenge the status quo, even while you conform to societal norms.
Through life’s ups and downs,
Focus on what you want to accomplish.
In tough situations, know that you will come through.
Never lose hope - tomorrow is another day.
Control is an illusion.
Enjoy the ambiguity in life – forces at cross-purposes, and outcomes beyond your control.
Prepare for the best-case, and be ready for the worst-case scenarios that may impact you.
Plan for success and derailments in equal measure.
Then steer your course.
Forgive, so you may be at pease with yourself.
If you hang on to unpleasant memories,
it is you who suffers - your energies are
caught up in undesirable emotions and you can’t move forward.
Learn something from every person you cross paths with.
Forgive your own imperfections.
Give yourself a pat on the back for your own efforts - as a partner, parent, son or employee.
Don’t be too harsh on others or yourself.
If you seek determination, commitment - learn to love what you do.
Make it your purpose in life to achieve your greatest self.
Challenge your limits, discover what you are capable of - maximise your potential.
Life will constantly through you curveballs - aka change.
Learn to adapt and stay determined. Push yourself on.
Develop drive and self-awareness.
Become your intention - execute relentlessly, with focus.
When the time comes for you to take a leap of faith - believe in yourself,
and in the dream of your greatest self - remember your purpose.
Seak out great teachers and mentors - they can be found in the best books as easily as in real-life. Read.
Use your time wisely - treat it as an investement in your future.
Don’t waste it on frivolity.
Be passionate about your pursuits.
Passion transforms your effort into devotion, and that brings its reward as mastery.
Above all, keep an open mind - evaluate multiple options. Don’t get stuck on a single path.
Learn from your peers - engage in teams, understand other’s perspectives,
learn to analyse situations and people. Reflect and empathise.
Carry a constructive mindset to people challenges.
Don’t be impulsive and avoid negativity.
Make a difference in life with whatever you do.
Add value to yourself, and to others.
When your goals are driven by your values -
you get purpose, and conviction - a determination to stay the course.
When they don’t - you have inner conflict.
Know what you want - choose and live your life’s purpose.
Make your heart your commpass for knowing if you are staying on course -
if you stay true to your purpose, it will always feel right.
